Following the success of their ‘Zip Tie’ eyewear launch in 2019, South Korean eyewear label Gentle Monster is joining forces with accessories Japanese jewellery label Ambush for a second act.
The sophomore outing, titled ‘Carabiner’, sees the sunglasses take on a conceptual approach to eyewear frame design that’s inspired by the trendy leisure activity of rock climbing.

Borrowing references from the sport, the limited-edition square frames and cat-eye designs feature D-shaped carabiners on the sides of the frame as a nod to Ambush’s signature industrial look. The two styles will drop in Gentle Monster and Ambush physical and online stores from July 8.

The packaging of the limited-edition sunglasses comes with a carabiner to boot.
Ambush’s Korean-born creative director Yoon said: “Gentle Monster has been incredible with its unique vision and presence in the industry, pumping out many unique pieces straight from Korea, my motherland.”
To give the collaboration more star power, Gentle Monster has roped in South-Korean music producing duo GroovyRoom and rapper Ash Island to star in a fashion campaign. They will also be producing a special track and music video for this latest Gentle Monster X Ambush collection that is set to premiere this month too.
