For the uninitiated, it may seem like a show that’s solely focused on the mere game of chess. But frontrunner Anya Taylor-Joy who plays Beth Harmon proves otherwise: her character challenges the preconceived notions of womanhood in the mid-’50s and ’60s by setting her eyes on becoming a chess prodigy after fostering a love for the sport as a young orphan.
While we can continue on about how this cinematic masterpiece excels with its brilliant cast to its inherent ability to touch on conversations like sexism, emotional trauma, and substance abuse, we can’t forget about Beth’s fashion moments too.
