Demna took over the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange on May 23 to stage his Spring 23 show. It was the first runway showcase for the designer on American soil and as expected, he brought his brand of subversive couture-inflected fashion Stateside.

Models in latex gimp suits gave an eerie and dangerous feel to the show which was attended by the likes of Vera Wang, Amanda Lepore, Ye and Pharell. The clothes, however, offered a heavy dose of sophisticated bourgeois chic and couture influences that were apropos for a show staged at the epicentre of American capitalism. Cue the silk pussybow blouse with shoulder pads, midi skirts, trench coats and gorgeous eveningwear –blue-chip investments for the wardrobe, if you ask us.

The pieces that got everyone’s attention, however, were from the Balenciaga/Adidas collaboration (yeap, that’s what the tie-up is called) that span tracksuits, parka dresses, robes, T-shirts and jewellery. The sportswear fits bear the athletic company’s mountain-shaped logo or distinctive trefoil emblem with the Balenciaga name spelt in lower case.

For a limited time only till May 29, selected merchandise is being sold exclusively on Balenciaga’s site. Thereafter, the full collection will be sold in stores during the Resort 2023 season which is slated to hit shelves around Nov. Below, a glimpse of what’s being traded.
