Has Demna Gvasalia been bitten by the gaming bug? After creating Balenciaga’s first video game Afterworld for the launch of the Fall 2021 collection, the fashion house has unveiled a new partnership with popular online video game Fortnite.
The collaboration features custom skins or in-game outfits for four fan-favourite characters from the game: Ramirez, Knight, Doggo and Banshee. The fits are inspired by designs from Balenciaga’s collections throughout the years and are available via the game’s virtual store, found in Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode.
Balenciaga didn’t just create virtual skins for its Fortnite collaboration – there is also a limited-edition apparel line IRL.
Besides the vrirtual clothes, the characters can also dig into Balenciaga-designed backpacks, Triple S neakers and game tools like pickaxes and gliders to complete their tasks and obstacles in style.
To mark the occassion, Balenciaga has also designed a limited-edition series of apparel which is now available in stores and on its e-commerce site. The merch comprises a T-shirt, a hoodie, a cap, a shirt and a jacket, and are stamped with the Fortnite logo and the name Retail Row in various languages such as Arabic and Spanish.
