Balenciaga is not new to championing a good cause through fashion. In 2018, it started a partnership with the World Food Programme to donate proceeds from the sale of a range of merchandise to the humanitarian organisation.

The brand is now expanding its philanthropic efforts to a cause that will thrill not just animal lovers but also give you a warm and fuzzy feeling. On Nov 27, it launched a capsule collection to support French animal rescue services La Societe Protectrice des Animaux or La SPA for short.

Balenciaga has set up a Y2K-inspired website for its I Love Pets line which features charity merchandise as well as information that highlights the plight of abandoned animals and how potential pet owners can adopt.
Founded in 1845, La SPA is one of the oldest animal protection organisations in the world and runs an extensive operation that includes 62 rescue centres and 12 free veterinary clinics.
Balenciaga’s I Love Pets capsule line hopes to fund part of La Spa’s cause by donating 10 per cent of proceeds from the sale of its specially-designed T-shirts, hoodies, bags and jewellery shaped like milk bones to the organisation.

To make contributions to the cause much more compelling for shoppers, some merchandise like charms, tees and totes feature too-cute-to-resist photo prints of rescue pets which belong to Balenciaga’s own staffers and a hotline which offers animal adoption advice.
