2018 Emmys Red Carpet: All The Stylish, Over The Top And Ethereal Looks We Love

The fashion game was strong with these TV stars.

by IMRAN JALAL  /   September 20, 2018

It was a night meant to fete the best of television, but the stars who walked the recent Emmys red carpet sure know how to crank the high wattage glamour that could rival their big screen peers anytime as couture, feathers, long trains and ball gowns fuelled the fashion drama. Here, we spotlight the names that caught our attention with their sartorial choices.

This millennial pink Calvin Klein by Appointment jacquard gown was befitting for the 14-year-old Millie Bobby Brown who got a supporting actress nod in a drama series for Stranger Things. For this, we’d easily give her an 11/10 score.

Penelope Cruz looked like a fairytale princess in her silk tulle Chanel couture gown which comprised grey pearls and feathers. The embroidery on the bodice alone took 280 hours to complete and consisted of 8,000 elements like organza flowers glazed strands of feathers embroidered with grey and white beads.

To temper the over-the-top flamboyance of the taffeta plisse couture dress from Valentino, Tracee Ellis Ross who was nominated for the best lead actress in a comedy series for Black-ish, opted for a few styling tricks. She ditched the dripping diamonds and went for a pair of earrings from Repossi; the beachy makeup and hair was inspired by the laid-back vibe of the surfers of Dakar, Senegal.

This custom glittery mermaid number by Rodarte hugged Mandy Moore at all the right places and had that star quality about it. Our only gripe: she could have opted for more chic pumps or sandals.

Flowy train? Check. On point hair and makeup? Double check. Ethereal glamour? Check, check, check. Jessica Biel, the lead actress nominee in a limited series or movie for her role in The Sinner, aced A-list Hollywood glamour to a T in this Ralph & Russo couture frock.

Dakota Fanning rarely ventures out of the romantic territory and she didn’t make an exception for this Emmys with a pleated chiffon number from Dior’s recent couture collection. What we love, however, is the gorgeous jade green shade which complemented the 175 carats worth of Colombian emeralds on her Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

Constance Wu does not usually register on our radar for her red carpet style. This slinky sequinned gown by Jason Wu could very well be her fashion coming out moment. Extra points for the flawless smoky eye makeup.

image

Claire Foy who snagged the lead actress award in a drama series for her role in The Crown was statuesque in her custom Calvin Klein by Appointment double-faced silk satin dress that came with a low back drapery.

Michelle Dockery might not have walked home with the lead actress accolade for her role in Godless, but the actress sure got our vote for this frothy tulle gown from Carolina Herrera’s Resort ’19 collection.
