Think of Bottega Veneta and instantly the Knot and intrecciato weaving comes to mind. Founded in 1966, the Italian luxury brand has established itself with its quality leather goods, craftsmanship and minimalist sophistication. With new Creative Director Daniel Lee, the codes of the house are maintained but refreshed with a fresh perspective and modernity.
After introducing the Pouch in the Spring/Summer ’19 collection, Lee gave exclusive early access to the Arco bag at the recent Salone del Mobile design week, in advance of the official Pre-Fall 2019 launch. The name of the bag takes inspiration from the Arco della Pace, the neoclassical arch in the heart of Milan. The Arco bag has a dome-shaped flap, long tubular handles and a practical rectangular base.
Going against the grain of the current obsession with impractical micro bags, the architecture-inspired Arco is available in four sizes. In a palette of beautiful natural leather colours, the Arco establishes a new language of Intrecciato with a deconstructed, orthogonal weave made from over 100 pieces that creates a modern sensibility to Bottega Veneta’s iconic craftsmanship. Celebrating a organic and natural look, the Arco is made with a new variety of French calf and features an unlined interior that reveals the bag’s precise construction, and makes it lighter to carry. Think of it as the next stylish carry-all bag perfect for a getaway.
The Arco is currently available at Bottega Veneta’s Milan boutiques and here.
