After a little teasing earlier in November, Burberry has now released the campaign for its Vivienne Westwood collaboration. Lensed by David Sims, it spotlights familiar faces like Kate Moss along with Westwood herself and husband plus creative director Andreas Kronthaler, kitted in silhouettes those familiar with the iconoclastic designer will recognise right off the bat.
Thigh-grazing kilts, berets, double breasted jackets and heels just that much OTT in height, all in a vintage check from Burberry. But of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the avid activist giving one of her causes a shout out; a T-shirt (slide 8, above) printed with a handwritten note from Westwood seeks to raise awareness for Cool Earth — a UK non-profit organisation that works to protect rainforests. Of his first collaboration since heading up Burberry, Riccardo Tisci says, “Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something.”
In addition, Westwood is to customise four pieces from the collection that will be sold in an auction, with proceeds to also benefit Cool Earth. Browse the Burberry x Vivienne Westwood campaign above.
