Good news for enthusiasts of American workwear and skate wear: one of the movements’ key players, Carharrt WIP, has moved to newer and bigger digs at #01-02 Scotts Square. Previously located in Mandarin Gallery, the space covers 1,125 sq ft and houses a wider range of ready-to-wear pieces spanning overalls, cargo pants and T-shirts. Another bonus: there is now a dedicated section for women, which is stocked with designs such as overalls and cropped tops.

Enclosed in floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the industrial-leaning interior is the brainchild of Milan-based architect Andrea Caputo and his team (they’re also behind the design of the Carhartt WIP stores in Berlin and Los Angeles). Prefabricated and industrial elements – think Bardiglio Grigio marble for the countertop, cedar and walnut benches, concrete surfaces accented by polished aluminium and zinc clothing racks – give the store an urban refinement.
The Botanical City T-shirt is designed especially for the opening of the new Carhartt WIP store at Scotts Square and retails online and in-store for $89 till end September.
To mark the opening, the brand has released a limited-edition T-shirt titled Botanical City which reference Singapore’s rep as a garden haven. The merch – available in white and black – features a graphic print of the national flower Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid in a trippy infrared-inspired colourway. Additionally, Carhartt WIP highlights a new graphic element every season, with Fall/Winter 2022 being the ‘Happy Script’ motif which you can find incorporated in their products.
The Happy Script motif appears on a graphic t-shirt (available online and in-store) and other accessories including the tray (pictured) and mug which will be available soon at the Carhartt WIP Singapore store.
