Much has been said about Hedi Slimane’s love affair with youth culture. It’s an obsession that he has honed since his younger days at Dior and now at Celine – his Spring/Summer 2021 menswear show in July paid tribute to e-boys from the cyber-subculture.

Predictably, the 67-look collection saw Slimane staying in the “bourgeoise chic” lane that he is known for at Celine; he rehased heritage designs and archive-inspired pieces and continued his predilection for lean tailoring.
But there were also the athleisure fits, sweatsuit materials, flats, scrunchies, oversized cardigans, baseball caps and bucket hats, and gyms socks worn with sandals – symbols of easy wholesome dressing and perhaps merchandise that we buy more of these days.

Hedi Slimane took a youthful and carefree approach to his vision of “bourgeoise chic” at Celine for Spring/Summer 2021.
The ‘Slimane cool’ came in the way the looks were styled: less put-together and with a laissez-faire attitude. Flats were worn with jeans and blazer while leather pilgrim sandals were paired with bike shorts and a denim gilet for example.
This more relaxed and less precious vibe was unmistakble. Perhaps, it was a nod to Slimane’s newfound life in confinement (reportedly he spends most of his time in Saint Tropez these days).

Below, we sieve through the collection and highlight some of the merch that we are eyeing before they hit stores next season.
