Saint Laurent may be known as the house of Le Smoking and for its achingly chic-meets-sexy aesthetic, but creative director Anthony Vaccarello sure knows how to add some cheeky gestures when it comes to the designing for the festive season. Remember the Nanoblock skeleton figurine he worked on for last Halloween or the retro arcade machine he collaborated with Neo Legend two Christmases ago?

For the Maison’s Lunar New Year limited-edition capsule collection this year, Vaccarello shows his stripes by playing with the motif of The Pink Panther masquerading as a tiger – swapping the cartoon character’s famous pink body with an orange and black colourway. That cute image lands as a print on a hooded sweater as well as the desing of a key ring.

The Pink Panther gets the Year of the Tiger treatment.
Elsewhere, the allusion to the Year of the Tiger stealthily ventures into the brand’s more familiar rock ‘n’ roll territory. A ‘trick eye’ pattern featuring tigers is used for a hooded cardigan, shirts and bags such as the Kate, to create a wardrobe for whenever you’re in need of a little glam.
Peppered among these designs are the Niki bag and Manhattan bag that come in earth tones – or what the brand describes as “the yearning for the natural wilderness“. Ready to head into tiger season? Scroll on for a look at what to expect.
