Being in quarantine has seen many of us flex our creative muscles a bit more – from fashion brands coming up with activities like colouring and movie screenings to engage their customers to It girls channelling their energy in the kitchen to whip up some yummy nosh. As for me? I have been keeping myself amused by watching my art-loving eight-year-old nephew fill up the pages of his sketchbook with his drawings.
This is the boy, who two years ago, contributed his delightful doodles inspired by Spring/Summer 2019’s colour-crazy runway looks to this website. Flash forward to this season, and my brief to him for his isolation/school holiday project was simple: let your imagination run wild and dream up your own girl squad wearing Pre-Fall 2020’s flirty and fun short dresses.
And boy, did he deliver. The result is a riotous and diverse outing featuring models with different hair colours and features an illustration style that reminds me of the sketches by French fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Now who’s ready for his take of Fall/Winter 2020 looks?
