You can’t argue with what the Caten twins of Dsquared2 said: Milan is indeed one of the best cities in the world to go furniture hunting. During our recent interview with them, they revealed how high-end furniture gallery Nilufar, is in their little black book for stylish and rare vintage pieces.
Nilufar, along with over 2,000-plus exhibitors from more than 165 countries, were among those at the annual design week Salone del Mobile which wrapped up on Sunday. With the participation of fashion houses becoming a norm over the years, the event has also become another reason why the city is a magnet for the best-dressed set after Milan Fashion Week.
Among our favourite fashion-related outings at Salone this year were the abstract installations by Cos with London-based Studio Swine and Cartier’s industrial-themed pop-up with New York artist Desi Santiago.
Then there were the simply great furniture and homeware designs by the likes of Louis Vuitton, which debuted 10 new additions to its Objets Nomades collection this year — thanks to its new roster of product design and furniture design superstars like India Mahdavi and Tokujin Yoshioka.
After scouring the offerings at the fair, we managed to round up some of the most fashionable pieces that you should have on your list or mood board in case you ever need to give your living space a stylish makeover and update.
