New York visual artist Sarah Coleman’s found fame for making over mundane objects – chairs, milk cartons, lighters, you name it – in designer logos.
Her collaboration with Fendi hitting stores this month – their second, following one for Design Miami last year – is even bigger on functionality without losing any of her signature playfulness.

Think the Italian label’s iconic handbags made utilitarian, swimsuits and even a bento box (yes, a bento box) doused in a psychedelic take on the Fendi monogram, dubbed Vertigo.

The Fendi FF Vertigo collection gets its name from the whirly motif that anchors it: the brand’s monogram given a ’70s psychedelic spin created by
Silvia Venturini Fendi and Coleman, first seen in their Design Miami collaboration last year.
This time, it gets rendered in an upbeat yellow and blue, in addition to classic black and brown.

A made-for-summer capsule inspired by an outdoorsy lifestyle, the collection is packed with ready-to-wear pieces that marry style with utility. These include sporty windbreakers, gym coords, transformable jackets and multi-pocket skirts – all splashed with the Vertigo pattern, of course.

Coleman wasn’t the only collaborator roped in for the collection. Fendi also partnered three specialist brands to create limited-edition lifestyle
products: Polaroid, on a revival of the Vintage Polaroid 636 camera; Italian design studio Alessi, on pod-like “Food a Porter” bento boxes; and Italian outdoor brand Ferrino, on the camping tents.
Peekaboo handbags in the collection are livened up by the Vertigo motif two ways: on their shoulder strap, or all-over via inkjet printing onto
mineral-tanned leather, which allows for more vibrant colours and accuracy.

Introduced alongside the FF Vertigo collaboration to complete Fendi’s summer capsule offerings: the Sellerissima line of bags in the brand’s artisanal, saddlery-inspired Selleria leather now accented by macro stitching on the exterior.
Styles cover all-time favourites (think the Baguette and Peekaboo), as well as trendier options such as the Moonlight saddle bag and Sunshine Shopper tote.

The Italian maison’s Forever Fendi timepieces are given an energetic update in the Vertigo motif or an even trippier, warped version of it aptly named the Fisheye; both available in 29mm and 39mm styles.
