And the Gucci 100 collection which debuted in stores on October 14 will be extra special considering how it was created for a very important milestone in the Italian house’s history: its centennial this year.
The premise of the collection of leisurewear fits for men and women is the pervasiveness of the brand within the pop culture sphere – a status cemented by the fact that there are at least 22,000 songs that name drop Gucci in their lyrics.

These range from ‘You Got Good Taste’ (1983) by American punk outfit The Cramps to more contemporary numbers such as Die Antwoord’s trance-y Gucci Coochie (2016). In fact, some of the songs have landed on the soundtrack of the Gucci Aria presentation (above) earlier this year.
There are a reported 22,705 songs – and counting – that namedrop Gucci in their lyrics.
A selection of these lyrics is forever immortalised as prints on items such as totes and clutches of the Gucci 100 collection which are given creative director Alessandro Michele‘s trademark vintage treatment with vintage motifs like wallpaper prints and insignias.
Song lyrics that mentioned Gucci appear as slogans on several designs of the Gucci 100 capsule.
To fete the launch of the collection, the brand is inviting customers to step into its ephemeral Gucci 100 Pop-Up showcase at Ion Orchard which is running from now until November 26.
