The saccharine hue, synonymous with all things girly and pretty and the fashion doll, is leading the charge for the Barbiecore revival. The latter has been spurred by the interest in the upcoming Greta Gerwig-directed film Barbie which stars Margot Robbie playing the titular role and will hit theatres on Jul 20 next year.
Elsewhere, proponents of this pretty-in-pink movement include Pierpaolo Piccoli of Valentino who had teamed up with the Pantone Color Institute to create his very own shade of saturated fuchsia that has been playfully named Pink PP.
What transpired is a monotone collection for Fall/Winter 2022 that sees this eye-popping hue used on the house’s dramatic silhouettes and appearing on stars from Conan Gray performing at Coachella earlier in April to the guests at the brand’s recent The Beginning Fall/Winter 2022 haute couture show.
