Ines De La Fressange’s Next Drop For Uniqlo Includes Menswear For The First Time

by KENG YANG SHUEN  /   August 16, 2017

It’s one of those laments that we tend to hear over and over – women grousing that the menswear of any particular brand is more more functional/desirable than the womenswear department.

Sometimes though, the situation is reversed – for example, with French supermodel Ines de la Fressange’s long time collaboration with Uniqlo, now in its eighth season with the Fall/Winter 2017 collection. Attending the media preview last season for the French-countryside-heavy Spring/Summer collection, I found myself lusting after the pieces – which were all women’s pieces unfortunately.

This season it seems the fashion gods have heard my prayers – de la Fressange has debuted a small range of menswear in her F/W collection. Good news for those who love to shop with their significant others – here’s our pick (both womenswear and menswear) of the collection, which drops in two batches (1 September and 20 October), exclusive to the Orchard Central and Uniqlo’s online store.

Ines De La Fressange's Next Drop For Uniqlo Includes Menswear For The First Time
#1: Wool turtleneck sweater, $59.90
image

This sprightly turtleneck features a zesty colour combination of yellow, white and green – just what we need to brighten up the cooler months (or the office).

#2: Cotton twill cropped trenchcoat, $149.90
image

Think a trenchcoat can only be worn overseas? This stylish cropped version can easily be worn in the office – bonus, it’s featured in the ad campaign.

#3: Merino wool sweater, $59.90

Colour-blocking is big news this Fall and I’m totally on board with this wine and petrol blue sweater.

#4: Polyamide jacket, $99.90

Down jackets are a staple when #winteriscoming, but they don’t have to be boring – de la Fressange has elevated the staple with a interesting faded plaid pattern.

#5: Corduroy skirt, $59.90
image

Channel the ’60s with a charming button-up skirt – I’d say pair it with a Peter Pan collar-ed knit shirt and the effect would be totally cute.

#6: Cotton twill trenchcoat, $199.90
image

Nothing beats a trenchcoat when it comes to classic outerwear and this forest green iteration is a refreshing change from the usual black or beige versions.

#7: Cotton shirt, $49.90
image

Part of the menswear collection, this shirt might not be for everyone but it would totally pop in a sea of muted colours.

#8: Polyamide and polyester sweater, $49.90

This cable knit sweater is one for the ages with its handsome blue hue. Pair with herringbone trousers and your man is good to go.
