Over the years, we’ve noticed a trend creeping into the footwear business: heels are getting more sculpted, more architectural, and simply more unusual like some art house fest. In fact, the outre the shape, the cooler the cred.
Designers like Phoebe Philo may have championed the movement (pun intended) during her tenure at Celine where shoes with exaggerated block heels while Alessandro Dell’Acqua is famous for his askew block heels at Rochas.
And now that Philo’s not designing anymore, there are more brands filling up the vacuum for such arty silhouettes. Among our favourites are South Korean designer Sunyuul Yie of Yuul Yie and the always-fun Simon Porte of Jacquemus whose shoes come with heels made of stacked spheres. Here we suss out some of our favourite looks from this season.
