Since 2020, FEMALE has partnered with Lasalle College of the Arts to offer industry insight and experience to a cohort of students from its Diploma in Creative Direction for Fashion programme every year.

The latest was its inaugural graduating class, which we had tasked to create digital content focused on what they thought was the biggest fashion story of the moment last semester. Throughout this tie-up though, the biggest fashion story for us has been the inspirations, aspirations, style and promise of these young talents.
Here, meet 29 of them.
“I’ve always been interested in fashion since I was very young, and love making clothes for and dressing up my dolls.”
“I like Pierre Cardin’s avant-garde designs and Giorgio Armani’s relaxed yet luxurious garments – and the timeless quality of them all.”
“My cousins and I would play make-believe fashion designers when we were young. Now, I’m more interested in art direction.”
“I’ve aspired to be a fashion photographer since I was 16. It’s been the only thing I can think about.”
“I really love the idea of dressing against fashion norms and standards.”
“Fashion is the visual marker of our times and I want to hone the craft of using it as a tool for storytelling.”
“My dream is to own a brand or business in the fashion industry.”
“My style is a mix of muted classics, chic streetwear and a touch of Y2K influence.”
“Maria Grazia Chiuri is my favourite designer.”
“Being in this industry offers the opportunity to meet different people in the world, share our amazing ideas and do something with it.”

“My aspiration is to step out of my comfort zone and push limits.”

“The clothes I like take inspiration from the many things that I love: anime, athletics, human marble sculptures, dark colours and steel.
“Growing up plus-sized, I’ve always turned to fashion as a source of confidence – a good outfit can elevate one’s self-esteem completely.”
“I’ve always been fascinated by what goes on behind the scenes at fashion shows and magazines. My dream is to become a part of that creative team.”
“I want to create beautiful designs that make a difference.”
“As a gamer, I hope to see the futuristic clothes worn by avatars in games translate into real life.”
“I hope to become a fashion stylist or personal shopper.”
“My interest in Japanese fashion led me to want to know more about the industry and develop my skills and knowledge in every aspect of the field.”
“The pandemic has created the chance for – or forced – the fashion industry to think about new business models and ways to showcase works that could be better than the ones before.”
“I’ve always been interested in fashion marketing and decided to pursue it after realising that engineering was not for me.”
