Let’s get this out of the way: this Mackintosh collection has nothing to do with the (also) Scottish outerwear brand that Vetements has collaborated with. Loewe‘s special edit instead taps on the late Charles Rennie Mackintosh — architect behind the Glasgow School of Art and, also known for his wider lexicon of work that includes art and furniture design.
On classic accessories like the Hammock, Gate and Puzzle bags, Mackintosh’s iconic stained glass roses, paintings and lattice design (gleaned from his ‘Window’ chair) transform the pieces into instant collectibles. And with Jonathan Anderson’s Loewe also known for its bite-sized knick knacks, the motifs also appear on small leather goods like mini purses, pins and keychains — with a cameo of Mackintosh’s portrait on a tote bag. Our favourite pieces above.
