Loewe Paula’s Ibiza, the annual summer range conceived in collaboration by both the emblematic Spanish labels, is back again. The capsule collection, which is now in its fourth edition, has the widest offering of ready-to-wear so far.
Jonathan Anderson, creative director of the Spanish luxury label, described his approach to the clothes in 2021’s Paula’s Ibiza as a “carefree spirit of seaside dressing carried from the beach right into the everyday.” The overall vibe, in more of Anderson’s words: a “vibrant zing of sunny Balearic effortlessness”.
The Paula’s Ibiza collection this year by Loewe continues in the annual capsule’s tradition of tie-dye colours, and optimistic summery style.
The big idea is a sense of sun-bleached effortlessness. Think of clothes lovingly worn under the Ibiza heat, their colours and fabrics made soft and comfortable. The shapes are loose, asymmetrical and relaxed, and the best pieces come with a faded treatment for a sunny patina.
It’s a much breezier and more unbuttoned dimension of Loewe’s aesthetic universe, though craft still runs strong in this collection. The Iraca palm material in the Anagram basket bags, for example, are woven by a collective of Colombian female artisans. These are then married to Loewe’s own leather savoir-faire to create beautifully crafted pieces that have an indelible touch of the human hand.
You’ll also find a print story running through this year’s Paula’s Ibiza collection. The prints of parrots, doves and crocus flowers are nature-inspired motifs from the archives of Paula’s founders Armin Heinemann and Stuart Rudnick. They’re mixed and matched across the brand’s range of timeless small leather goods – a great gateway category for this collection – and given a playful, summery twist.
