French chic may be hard to ace (we’re looking at you Emily Cooper). But if the folks at Longchamp are to be believed, a bucket bag is one staple we can always lean on.

Which explains why for Spring/Summer 2022, the brand is debuting its own pared-back version called the Cuir de Russie. Structured, practical and versatile, the style also boasts the effortless cool of another quintessentially French staple: the summer basket bag.

The Cuir de Russie is constructed from the same leather used for the flap and handle of a Longchamp classic: Le Pliage
The name of the bag literally translates to Russian leather and is a nod to the hardy embossed cowhide used to craft it. If the material seems familiar, that’s because Longchamp also uses it for the flap and handle of the popular Le Pliage.

The open bucket silhouette of Cuir de Russie is complemented by a rounded handle and can be shut with the gold-tone press stud that is also similar to the one used by Le Pliage. The bag comes in six uplifting hues such as lemon yellow and emerald green as well as neutral colours like black and brown.

This fiery red version of the Cuir de Russie is available exclusively on longchamp.com.
The minimalist aesthetic extends to the accompanying SLGs: a four-slot cardholder and a phone case that comes with two card slots. Both feature a long leather strap to be worn around the neck or to be looped around the handle of the Cuir de Russie.
