Louis Vuitton and Singapore made history on March 23 when the fashion house presented a spin-off Spring/Summer 2021 show at the ArtsSience Museum. A real-life physical show! By a powerhouse brand! And in Singapore in the middle of a pandemic! Understandably, there was an excitement in the lead-up to the event that had not been felt in months.
If you’re not caught up with what went down, you can easily watch the show in its entirety. Before you do, though, read our breakdown by the numbers of this momentous event.
On the runway was a 67-look mix of Louis Vuitton’s mainline Spring/Summer 2021 collection and a preview of the new Summer collection. The former was a reprise of the collection originally shown in Paris, and the latter an exciting new capsule that made its worldwide debut on the runway at the ArtScience Museum.
A total of 41 models walked this show – the first runway presentation in Singapore in quite a while. It was an exciting moment to also see some of Singapore’s rising top models in a show together: names like Kaigin Yong (pictured), who opened and closed the show), Diya Prabhakar, Kaci Beh who have walked shows in the big four fashion cities.
The Louis Vuitton spin-off show was presented three times – two in the afternoon, with the concluding evening slot being the glitziest. It was at this show that all the Singaporean stars and celebrities turned up in their Vuitton finery. A real stand-out: the rare appearance of singer Stefanie Sun (pictured here), who reportedly last attended a fashion show 10 years ago.
112 was the magic number of health and safety for the night – that being the maximum number of guests allowed for each show. The mainstage was the outdoor area under the ArtScience Museum’s Oculus. Guests were seated at safe distances apart from each other in an area turned entirely the colour of chroma key green.
An added bonus for attendees was the Louis Vuitton face masks that came with the show invite – quite literally a must-have accessory these days.
