In town last month to debut Maison Kitsune’s Parisien Tour 3 capsule line of tees and bags at multi-label boutique Manifesto, the French label’s co-founder and all-round master of cool Masaya Kuroki shares his creative indulgences.
“(New York folk rock female duo) Beau, whose music has such great flow and creates a lot of emotion. It’s why we signed them on to Maison Kitsune’s record label and launched their first EP last year.”
“American painter Alex Katz (known for his brightly coloured, stylised portraits). I can spend hours looking at his works – I think there’s music running through them.”
“Flea markets and vintage stores in general. You can’t remake or reproduce the items you see there; each piece is unique and you can’t copy it. That’s where (the product’s) value lies.”
“Tokyo, Japan, where there are lots of young, curious people who are unafraid to experiment and be creative.”
“New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Its scale is mind-blowing, and there’s so much history behind it (it was founded in 1870). I also like how it’s located within Central Park.”
