While we’re all about that airport flex, it isn’t exactly new. Cue Jane Birkin’s accidental trailblazing of the fruit basket bag and Mia Farrow’s endorsement of the floor-length kaftan. Fast forward to present day, and things are a little more casual. If you’re not one for hoodies and sweatshirts, the latest collection to hit Mango just might be the answer to the vintage-inspired travel wardrobe you’ve been looking for.
Chances are you’ve already seen the likes of ultra cool model Adwoa Aboah and Patrick Schwarzenegger grace the Spanish brand’s Spring Summer ’19 “New Voices” campaign. Inspired by travellers – specifically of the Bohemian variety – Mango’s Fall Winter ’19 line-up keeps in the same vein. Acclaimed photographer? Check. A bevy of beautiful faces? Check. A continuing theme of community and togetherness? Triple check.
Lensed by British photographer Glen Luchford, “Shared Moments” presents an autumnal range of retro-inspired pieces set against the backdrop of scenic Scotland. Bringing home the importance of human connection in an age of digital disconnect, the dreamy campaign is set to make even the most vehement of solo-travellers reconsider.
The accompanying collection – now available at Mango’s Wisma Atria and ION stores as well as online – is romantic, pretty and yet comfortable enough to travel in. One can expect an homage to the ’70s in particular – from knitted capes and pleated skirts to ruffled blouses and wide-leg trousers. And as with all things bohemian, each piece is relaxed and breezy. You can look forward to a colour palette of equal ease. Anchored by neutrals of white, grey, brown and navy, the collection serves up versatile, fuss-free colour options for travel.
Mango hasn’t forgotten the finer details either. The collection is rounded off by accessories and footwear to match. Bring on the ’70s at full-throttle with leather knee-high boots, tattersall-printed shoulder bags and snakeskin-embossed belts. And to top it all off: In tandem with the brand’s eco-conscious streak, there are pieces in the line created using recycled fabrics such as virgin wool and recycled organic cotton. Overall, how’s that for travel-friendly?
