There’s the saying that fashion always comes full circle; silhouettes and prints that were in vogue in the past have a way of segueing back into the spotlight — but not without contemporary tweaks and a fresh design perspective. This season’s trends reloaded include: a sleeker than ever rendition of athleisure; tie-dye shaping up and shaking its hippie flavour; and a refined, newfound love for bohemia. Of which, you’ll find notes of in Mango’s on the pulse Spring/Summer ’19 collection.
In place of the crop-top-with-running-tights ensemble that was the face of athleisure for the past few years (just thank its poster children, Kendall and Gigi), bicycle shorts take charge by way of a sharp blazer pairing (look 1, below). And like the Spanish brand’s rendition, we think it’s best served up in a pastel palette outside of spin class for extra style points.
Likewise, tie-dye evokes not a Woodstock undertone, but reads polished in the shape of a gauzy dress complemented by a lightweight trench (look 2), while crochet gets the green light for after-hours when paired with metallic trousers and barely-there sandals (look 3). Now how’s that for keeping it fresh?
