Dior and Gucci showcased their youthful and overly embellished Cruise ’17 looks in London last week. Last night, Marc Jacobs showed why he’s one of fashion’s original image makers. Compared to the more extravagant settings in London – Westminster Abbey and Blenheim Palace – Jacobs’ presentation was an intimate affair attended by a select group of editors and buyers.
What the brand lacked in grandeur, it made up for in a fun ’80s outing. Dubbed “Paradise. This fictitious idea of Paradise”, the show was a mashup of epic hairdos, Material Girl-esque gowns, neon colours, a hot house of patchworks and spot-on styling that would excite a fashion magpie. On paper, it sounds like a tacky costume party, but Jacobs created a cool image of a girl who was full of that devil-may-care attitude and swag. Here, we list all the things that went down.
