We’re off to the final leg of fashion month now – Paris Fashion Week has just kicked off but before we go there, let’s take a breather and look back at the stylish people spotted variously during Milan Fashion Week and in Singapore.
The Oscar-winning actress may be a French girl but she doesn’t necessarily stick to the usual French stylistic tropes. She’s been increasingly experimental – trying all sorts of young up-and-coming brands besides her usual Diors, such as this amazing Halpern piece at Cannes.
The actress struck gold again wearing a striking apple green suit by Swedish label Whyred out and about in Milan, accessorising it with a black Lemaire camera bag, Chopard jewellery and a cornrow ‘do.
Though celebrities have been crushing hard on pantsuits (and an oversized suit is one of the biggest trends for Fall), Cotillard’s take is one of my favourites of the year.
German It-Girl, ex-fashion edtior and entrepreneur Veronika Heilbrunner is one of the most frequently snapped street style stars and here, she wears a head-to-toe Prada Fall 2017 look. I love that collection and the coats in particular, were stand-outs. I also love that Heilbrunner swapped out the burgundy boots for the pink versions, ensuring that her entire outfit didn’t look too sombre.
Italian It-girl and co-founder of cult label The Attico, Gilda Ambrosio tends to make an impression wherever she goes. Ditto in this instance, where she paired an asymmetric magenta skirt with a petal pink top and orange bag. I’m loving the colour play at work here.
Battaglia is one of fashion’s most exuberant fashion editors and while loud, she always looks like she’s having fun. Spotted at Milan Fashion Week, she combines two trends into one outfit – red shoes and head-to-toe tonal looks.
Though it’s our job to espouse trends, a head-to-toe look in one colour is admittedly a bit hard to carry off in real life. Battaglia gamely took on the challenge in a siren red Fendi runway look, complete with the complementary thigh-high boots and topped it all off with a quirky heart-shaped Saint Laurent sunglasses, which she’s been sporting non-stop this fashion month.
Chinese fashion editor Sherry Shen is known for her love of colours and prints and here, she deftly demonstrates how to colour-block perfectly. Most people would have let the red Calvin Klein shirt stand out on its own but Shen paired it with the polka-dotted Loewe “Barcelona Dots” bag, embellished slippers and the Margiela hybrid jeans-pants that have been appearing on many an editor.
Could lime green be the next It colour to watch out for? Tiffany Hsu (@handinfire), buyer of MyTheresa.com, certainly makes a convincing case. This is most certainly the classic scenario of letting a key accessory be the focal point of your outfit. You could argue that her semi-sheer dress is rather distracting it itself but I like how your eye automatically gravitates towards her boots.
You might not know of young Spanish blogger Maria Bernad (@maria_bernad) but she’s certainly one of the chicest girls on the scene right now. Known for her eclectic, vintage-tinged styling, I’m crushing hard on her louche pantsuit that was paired with rosy sunglasses and brilliantly contrasted with emerald green platform sandals from Rochas (Fall 2016 collection, I think). It’s all very ’70s but also feels very contemporary. And overall, her sense of colour is totally immaculate – I’m really loving all the colours in her outfit and how she’s mashed them together.
How to style Chanel’s fantastical glitter boots (one of the season’s best boots) from the sci-fi inspired Fall 2017 collection? And also, how does one take on the sci-fi trend this season as a busy working woman?
Take a leaf from one of the most impeccably stylish women in the business – Italian/Slovenian stylist Ada Kokosar (right), who grounded Chanel’s Space Age silvery boots with a somber outfit that came across as tough and no-nonsense, thanks to the leather and multiple buckles.
