If you haven’t heard of Italian luxury outerwear brand Moncler’s Genius Project, you’re seriously missing out on an entire year’s worth of collaborative brilliance. Launched last year, Moncler Genius is a rather genius and star-studded collective of some of the industry’s biggest fashion designers and their take on the heritage brand. The result is an annual rolodex of 11 collections, to be exact – and can be considered to be mini-capsules with designers like Richard Quinn, Craig Green and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
Part of the line-up is Irish fashion designer, Simone Rocha, most commonly known for her ultra-feminine, eccentric designs and strong hint of neo-romanticism. Rocha’s capsule for Moncler is dubbed as ‘a uniform for nature’ and boasts elements of functionality and protection – the ultimate inspiration being that the wearer (much like the Girl Guide’s) is protected from external dangers and well, the weather. The collection, 4 Moncler Simone Rocha (each capsule is numbered, followed by the designer’s name) is now available at Marina Bay Sands and is a seamless continuation of its SS19 collection, which was also heavily inspired by natural elements. While SS19 was inspired more by the physical manifestations of nature – flowers, leaves, twigs – Rocha’s FW19 narrative is certainly more functional.
You can expect tent capes, ruffled dresses, intricate coats and of course, Rocha’s signature hand-knitted pearl headpiece. Browse the collection above.
