Annnnd we’re finally done with fashion month and the Spring 2018 shows but while we recover from the overload of new styles, here are some of the best outfits spotted during Paris Fashion Week for some serious street style inspiration.
One of the rare models who genuinely possesses a striking sense of style, Valade opted for a Valentino long coat from the brand’s Fall 2017 collection. While most might have kept the rest of their outfit neutral in order to let the coat shine, I love that Valade went with trousers in a matching pink hue. The perfect finishing touch? A subtle pale blue shirt, worn offhandledy unbuttoned – yes the smallest details do make a difference.
One of the most viral street style images of the moment – and it’s easy to see why. Madsen (left) came up with one of the best colour-blocked outfits of the season and I’m pretty sure she was pretty damn pleased with herself with this outfit. I know I’d be.
I love the rich, saturated hues of the orange sweater and green trousers, and it was well balanced with the lighter sky-blue J.W. Anderson bag she was carrying. I imagine this picture will probably run in a lot of editorials regarding S/S’18 street style and colour-blocking stories to come.
Everyone saves their best outfits for Paris and while Matches Fashion’ fashion market director Megan Reynolds’ outfit looks simple at first glance, it’s clear she excels in accessories. I’m not sure where her stand-out shoes are from, but they’re real eye-catchers, as are her earrings. Her paperbag-style trousers are on point as well – cool without overwhelming the rest of her outfit.
Street style photog Tamu McPherson loves to play with colour, so I wasn’t surprised to see her in this red Solace London coat, but the patent leather finish was a nice touch that ensured she stood out from the crowd.
Cowboy boots have recently made a successful comeback, most notably at Calvin Klein by Raf Simons.
However, if you’re thinking that cowboy boots are one of those hard-to-pull-off trends, take a cue from Spanish blogger Maria Bernad (aka my favourite street style star right now) and wear them with no-nonsense, slim, faded jeans. I woudn’t pair them with ripped jeans – they’d be too distracting with such boots.
Russian stylist Anya Ziourova is known for her sharp sense of style that typically veers towards the likes of Celine. This softer look from her was a nice change of pace – though Ziourova still incorporated an amazing statement bib/necklace with oversized paillettes from Celine’s Fall 2017 collection.
Greek blogger (StyleHeroine) Evangelie Smyrniotaki caught my eye in this simple look of a charcoal grey tee paired with magenta trousers and those popular polka-dotted Balenciaga Fall 2017 pumps that have been spotted on countless fashion week attendees this season.
She makes the case that sometimes it’s really personal confidence and charisma that carries an outfit t completion. That and those cute sunglasses.
Homegrown superstar Yoyo Cao has become a regular personality to look out for during fashion month, and here, she’s seen in a velvet pantsuit in an unusual teal hue with a round Chloe Pixie bag.
I love the colour and the fact that Cao went all out to embrace different shades of blue in one outfit.
Veteran Polish supermodel Malgosia Bela was the very picture of (what I imagine to be) quintessential French style. On paper it was a pretty simple outfit – a silk shirt, wide leg trousers – nothing quirky or gimmicky or “Insta-bait” accessories.
Bela showed that you don’t need OTT (over-the-top) accessories to be stylish. It was the way she carried off her chic separates – I love the contrast of the rich burgundy shirt (unbuttoned, of course) against the cream trousers. The cute Chloe bag, nicely finished off her outfit.
One of my early favourite street style icons, Yasmin Sewell never fails to keep me interested (unlike say, Anna Dello Russo) and here, she’s in the finale (and my favourite) dress of Loewe’s excellent Fall 2017 collection.
Actress Emma Stone has also worn this Loewe piece on the red carpet but while the actress kept it demure and feminine, Sewell paired hers with her Space Age-y white Dries Van Noten boots that kept the dress from being too precious and came across as offhandedly cool.
