Prada’s Spring/Summer 2021 menswear show, which debuted virtually back in July, was well-received for its clean lines and pared-back direction.
“Attention is drawn back to clothes – simple clothes, with a use and a value, a longevity and a place within people’s lives. As times become increasingly complex, clothes become straightforward, unostentatious, machines for living and tools for action and activity,” reads the press notes.
The collection was a lovely throwback to the house’s earlier, more minimal works and indeed, it feels like a just-right balm for these out-of-whack times.

The noir-inspired Prada Holiday 2020 campaign shot by Steven Meisel.
Prada’s new Holiday 2020 collection appears to continue that same clean-cut and useful trajectory. The campaign for the collection was shot by Steven Meisel and based on an original short story written for Prada by fast-rising British writer Candice Carty-Williams.
Conceived as a paean to film noir (something familiar to the house as Mrs. Prada has always been noted for her patronage of film and art makers), the accessories take center stage as plot-points or clues to an unspooling mystery.
