As if Beyonce hasn’t already proven time and time again that she, ehem, came to slay, she raised the bar yet again at the recent Coachella 2018 by putting on a breathtaking performance that went viral. Fans were in awe of her multiple outfit changes within a span of two hours.
But amidst the extensive latex and glitter costumes, we had our eyes set on the yellow Balmain hoodie that she donned together with a pair of denim shorts and Christian Louboutin fringe boots. The colour harks back to the mustard yellow Roberto Cavalli dress a baseball bat-wielding Beyonce wore in her Hold Up music video.
In fact, the rich honeybee yellow colour scheme dominated the majority of the set, from the live marching band to her posse of dancers — which is why we’re coining this hue the “beyllow”.
Aside from Beyonce, Rihanna and Kendall Jenner are also fans of the colour. And who can forget Uma Thurman’s yellow bodysuit in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill series? On the runways, Oscar de la Renta, Tibi, Carolina Herrera and Christopher Kane are just some of the labels who have caught on the trend.
Said to be the colour of confidence and optimism, the hue is the best way to literally pep up your wardrobe. Here, we pick out our favourite items in the colour to be seen in this season.
