Why space travel? Well, where better to escape from the roiling turmoils of today’s world?

Creative director Julien Dossena came up with one of his most fluid and effortless collections for the house of Paco Rabanne – a major name in the ’60s and in general fashion history where he made a name for himself by using unconventional, space-y materials like metal to make dresses.

I may be slow to warm up to what Demna Gvasalia is doing at Balenciaga but this season was honestly quite seminal – Gvasalia’s usual magic of re-appropriating materials and fabrics came across as truly witty, such as this pencil skirt made from a car mat.

He’s been pushing these Matrix-esque sunglasses for a few seasons now but hey it makes sense more than ever with a reboot of the beloved series reportedly on the horizon.

Prince of pretty with a dark romantic edge, Olivier Theyskens also got into the Matrix pie. How futuristic are these? I’m loving the hard-angled edges and the fact that there’s no nose bridge connecting the lenses. They’re on my shopping list for sure.

Even Balmain, you say? Yep, the house may be better known for churning out glamazon pieces (in recent years anyway) but creative director Olivier Rousteing came up with this ensemble that echoed the infamous crocodile leather coat worn by the character Morpheus in the Matrix.
