Yes, You Can Wear These Singapore Lingerie Brand’s Pieces Out Of The Bedroom

New lingerie label Maisonzhou wants to change up loungewear with its luxurious silk offerings. We uncover the brand’s USP and why you’ll covet its designs.

by ISABEL ONG  /   October 21, 2016

Londoner Sophie Corlett, the founder and designer of new sleepwear label Maisonzhou, has been living and working in Singapore as a lawyer for the past three years. But it was only in the last two years that she decided to switch paths and ventured into fulfilling a lifelong passion: fashion design.

The brand, which focuses on silk lingerie and sleepwear that marry Oriental elements with romantic French accents, launched a week-long pop-up space at Keepers (#02-03 National Design Centre) today. We headed down to view the items up close and chatted with Corlett on her brand’s USP and what makes them so wearable:

Yes, You Can Wear These Singapore Lingerie Brand's Pieces Out Of The Bedroom
#1: Every item is made of premium silk.

Sourced from China, the silk feels luxuriously soft to the touch, and is lightweight enough for our hot, humid weather. It’s also a breathable material, which means it has the ability to regulate body temperature and keep you cool even on warm nights. Maisonzhou’s pieces come with six per cent elastane, too, which gives the pieces more stretchability and a better fit. Another plus point: They’re machine-washable.

#2: Its dresses double up as formal wear.

Wearing your jammies out of the bedroom isn’t that outre – Grace Coddington actually wore them to the Met Gala. The brand’s sleek dresses, like the Noemic mermaid gown here ($450), come in the most figure-flattering cuts, which will help to accentuate your curves or accentuate your derriere.

#3: Its pajama jackets make a great wardrobe choice for the weekend.

Likewise, its pajama jackets – there are short-sleeved and long-sleeved versions ($265-$295) – look great even when worn outside the bedroom. Style it with jeans and sneakers for a distinctly laidback vibe.

#4: Designs are tailored for Asian silhouettes.

According to Corlett, dresses are designed with Asian women in mind: Dresses in XS sizes come with a markedly shorter length, while sleeves are also cut shorter and with curved edges so they look more feminine.

#5: Pieces will appeal to busy career women in their 30s.

The Jia lace silk bras ($140) come with front clasps and are wire-free, while the Qiang robe ($495) serves as a fuss-free cover-ups. Bonus: Pieces are easily mixed and matched as each item comes in five colourways – black, white, grey, pink and navy – which you can style however you fancy. Visit Maisonzhou at Keepers from now till Thursday, Oct 27
