Kim Jones is a pro at launching blockbuster collaborations. As artistic director of Dior Men, he has tapped the most in-demand brands that capture the fashion zeitgeist to create hyped-up collections that often come with long waitlists. Among his partners-in-crime are Kaws, Stussy, Rimowa, Nike and 1017 Alyx 9SM.

And at Fendi where he plays the role of artistic director of womenswear and couture, Jones recently pulled off one of the biggest coups of Spring/Summer 2022 Fashion Week.
Both he and Donatella Versace swapped places to birth an exuberant project called Fendace which saw the duo meld their artistic vision with the respective design codes of the house they had taken over. The collection is reportedly launching in Pre-Fall next year.

Monochromatic colours are the order of the day for the Fendi X Skims collection – and this extends to the accessories like the Peekaboo and Fendi First bags. For footwear, Fendi has debuted shearling hiking sandals and new iterations of the Fendi First heels.
But before that happens, the 34-year-old Jones is unveiling one very sexy tie-up with another well-known Kim in the fashion world who has been catching our attention of late with her cutting-edge sartorial choices.
On October 25, Fendi announced on Instagram that it will be teaming up with Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand Skims for a collection of form-fitting designs that will drop in selected stores and on www.fendiskims.com on November 9. Fendi’s Ion Orchard boutique has been chosen as one of the four locations in the world to enjoy a pre-launch event on November 2.

The popularity of Skims among women was the main premise for the tie-up. “The idea for the collaboration came about when my team and I were sitting around a table at the studio in Rome,” reveals Jones in a press statement.
“Suddenly, all the women went silent and started looking at their phones. I didn’t know what was going on, but they were waiting for the launch of the new Skims collection. It was then that I thought: let’s do something together.”
The result is a body-conscious collection of mini dresses, athleisure separates, shapewear and beachwear as well as accessories that conform to Skim’s well-known body-sculpting aesthetic – read: velvet that has been engineered to support the silhouette and bonded leather dresses that create a statuesque form.

Creating a size-inclusive Fendi X Skims collection is a priority for Kim Jones and Kim Kardashian.
As a nod to Fendi’s long history with using monograms in its own designs, there is a specially-created Fendi X Skims logo that will be stamped on reversible skin-tight jersey, embossed into knitwear and splashed on underwear and hosiery.
The outing is also a fitting homage to a Fendi collection that Karl Lagerfeld designed for the Italian house in 1979 that heavily focused on twisted tube tops, sashes and pop colours.

And speaking of colours, the Fendi X Skims collection showcases another aspect that makes Kim Kardashian’s wardrobe and Skim’s designs so recognisable: the unabashed use of monochromatic colours. The only difference here is that instead of just solid neutrals, this outing features a vibrant array of hues from purple to orange.
