The SS19 shows have just concluded after a long and exhausting month and everyone’s recovering. While this isn’t a comprehensive list of all the major S/S’19 trends, here are some stand-out ones — and the Female fashion team’s honest opinions on them.

Fashion writer Keng Yang Shuen (KYS): “I love that there’s been such a strong resurgence of bohemia this season and my favourite interpretation of the trend goes to the highly underrated Julien Dossena of Paco Rabanne, who mixed the house’s signature “futuristic” chain mail so deftly with ethnic staples such as sarongs — all without feeling insulting or derivative.”
Fashion editor Imran Jalal (IJ): “A relaxed and laid-back wardrobe + glamorous and beautiful finishes = consider me sold.”

IJ: “Have we taken the athleisure trend too far or is this some wry commentary that designers are making on the whole Working Girl-esque wardrobe? Bella Hadid and influencers may have made this look trendy, but I am a staunch believer that bike shorts have only one place in our wardrobes — and that belongs under the gym or workout gear territory.”

KYS: “I really enjoyed the Chanel show — it’s Karl’s lightest collection in recent times — the beach-ready set-up as well as the overall easygoing mood of the clothes. It may not be the most cerebral collection but it’s one that we need right now.”
IJ: “The thing about these swimsuits and beach-worthy ensembles are that they’re less Tanjong Beach Club/Zouk Out and more holiday-at-the Aman. What’s not to love about such polished and sophisticated fashion?”

KYS: “Tie-dye typically invokes images of hippies and music festivals but the ones this season feel more well-articulated (thanks Loewe) and well, adult (hi Prada).”
AS: “Unlike the tie-dye tee, don’t rock these to Sunday brunch. S/S ‘ 19’s polished, painterly updates are worth saving for after-hours shenanigans.”
