While they’ve always been a major culture powerhouse in their home country, Japanese animation firm Studio Ghibli has been experiencing a mini global renaissance in recent years, thanks to their films becoming available on Netflix back in 2020 and of course, the high-profile collaborations with Spanish luxury house Loewe.
If you can’t get enough of Ghibli goodness, look out for the firm’s sophomore tie-up with Uniqlo: an apparel collection under its UT range that will launch first at the brand’s Bugis+ store on August 17, before becoming available at all Uniqlo online and physical stores from August 21.
The collection, titled “Hey, Let’s Go!” comprises of T-shirts and sweatshirts as well as accessories that incorporates art featuring Ghibli’s best-known films (usual suspects like Ponyo, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbour Totoro, as well as older works such as Castle in the Sky) by Thai artist Kanyada and longtime Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki.
P.S. To celebrate the launch, Uniqlo has designed a series of Ghibli-inspired activations taking over Bugis+ mall from August 18 to September 14 – for more details, hit Uniqlo Singapore’s Instagram page.
