Outland Denim

Aussie denim specialist Outland Denim is a favourite with Meghan Markle. It’s known for working ethically with women who were victims of human trafficking – their dedicated production facility in Cambodia has provided 750 people with gainful employment to date. On the sustainable front, the label favours using advanced technologies such as Laser and Ozone, both of which heavily reduces the need for water-intensive washing and heavy chemical use as compared to traditional techniques.

The R Collective

Hong Kong-based label The R Collective specialises in upcycling – or basically, the act of transforming discarded or old materials into something new and of higher quality. Marine Serre, for example, is one of the industry’s best examples of upcycling – and proves that it can be done in a manner that’s palatable to fashion folks. The R Collective uses waste materials sourced from Hong Kong non-profit organisation Redress to create their clean, minimalist staples, and even donates 25 per cent of proceeds back to the organisation.

Bikind

Here’s the perfect label for those into tie-dye: London-based Bikind is all about hippie-ish apparel (sweatshirts and hoodies which are perfect for these WFH times) that are individually hand-dyed in their studio, while accessories are made in India by non-profit organisations.
