Having previously worked together with Alexander McQueen and Supreme, contemporary artist Damien Hirst has recently added Swatch to the list — giving the Swiss watchmaker two “art” watches as a salute to Mickey Mouse‘s 90th birthday. The graphic riffs off Hirst’s own Mickey artwork from 2012, one that reportedly came about after Disney requested the artist to create a rendition of their mouse.
It sees the familiar character in deconstructed likeness; represented only by circles in the mouse’s distinct hues of yellow, red, white, black and beige. Perched on a mirrored dial on the Damien Hirst for Swatch watches, other notable details include the artist’s signature printed on the back of the watch straps, and a thematic packaging featuring a blown up version of Hirst’s Mickey. Available at all Swatch stores.
