Sweatsuits were originally worn by athletes to keep themselves warm and their muscles relaxed prior to a competition. It was later accepted as mainstream in the 70s after actors such as Bruce Lee, Sly Stallone and Danny Zuko wore sweatsuits in iconic films (read: Game of Death, Rocky and Grease respectively).
But it was the 00s when the look went through a tricky stage with Paris Hilton’s iconic Juicy Couture iterations in velour styles. However, the sweatsuit has recently staged a comeback with some of the hottest brands and A-listers donning this signature off-duty look.

Designers have also turned to matching hoodies and sweatpants and have showcased their version of the atheleisure trend on the runway. Fusing atheletic wear and luxury products has been a prevalent trend throughout recent seasons.
