So New York Fashion Week Spring 2018 has just wrapped up and before we get too caught up in the entire circus that is fashion month, let’s take a breather and check out the most stylish personalities who were out and about for the shows.
To me, this is one of the best photos taken during NYFW – all three women are stylish on their own but together, they made for a great photo. I’m especially crushing hard on Giangola’s relaxed pink corduroy trousers (I’m really loving the return of corduroy, FYI), Medine’s red Celine sandals and Tomasi Hill’s super cool Margiela jeans/pants hybrid that was nicely paired with pink Balenciaga kitten heels from the pre-fall 2017 collection.
FYI, those Balenciaga kitten heels are a huge hit with editors – Female‘s own editor Noelle Loh has the exact same pair in the same hue.
Street style photographer and blogger Tamu McPherson appeared in the exact Gucci bag we predicted would be cropping up during fashion month, further cementing the status of the fanny pack as the bag style of the moment. Get ready to see more fanny packs in the upcoming weeks.
Micro-trend alert: not only are checkered patterns one of Fall’s biggest trends, industry insiders are also clashing them on purpose with polka dots. On paper, you’d think that fashion consultant Sewell’s outfit would be too busy – those modish white boots, Loewe’s super cute “Barcelona Dots” bag, and that cheery yellow-and-plaid dress – but she makes it all work, especially with her signature cropped hairdo.
Ok sorry, I can’t identify this model but I do love her boyish overalls that were softened up with a feminine, Victorian-ish shirt.
Yet another industry insider who’s mixing her checks with her polka dots via her Balenciaga Fall 2017 pumps. Hey key accessory? A bright yellow French-style grocery net bag – which by the way, is starting to heat up as the next must-have bag – only, this soon-to-be It bag costs only a few dollars. Don’t say we didn’t give you a heads-up…
Tank editor Caroline Issa is known for her love of masculine-meets-feminine pieces and here, she demonstrates perfectly how to nail Fall’s must-have outerwear (an oversized blazer) – get one in a striking hue such as royal purple. Bonus? She had perfectly matching kicks to go with it – which of course, is yet another trend that’s made a comeback. One wonders if she had them custom-made…
Sometimes all you need is one statement piece, as editor Kat Collings shows with her beautifully pleated J.W Anderson top.
Between these two, they have practically most of the major trends of Fall 2017 down pat – a statement pair of red boots and a mannish suit.
Just looking at these three is enough to make anyone smile – German Vogue editor Quammie in a Regina Pyo dress, Net-A-Porter fashion director Aiken in a Ganni piece, and street style photographer McPherson in a Tibi frock. This is how spring should look like, me thinks.
Yes it’s Sewell again, and it appears she’s a big fan of Loewe’s Fall 2017 collection, as this is the second piece she’s been seen from the collection, this time in a stand-out pink checkered dress that was topped off with a more masculine denim jacket. Add her statement earrings, studded bag and angular heels and what you’ve got is a master mixer. I always have my eye on Sewell during fashion week and she rarely fails to impress.
