Whether you call it uncanny or sheer coincidence, the launch of H&M’s collaboration with The Vampire’s Wife couldn’t have come at a better time. Launching Oct 22 on www.hm.com and in the high-street retailer’s stores here, it is hard to ignore that Halloween is just a week away.

For the uninitiated, The Vampire’s Wife is one of the most notable labels on the independent fashion scene that is pushing forth a distinctly Edwardian-esque and undeniably pretty (read: super approachable) interpretation of Gothic fashion.

Founded by Susie Cave (missus to gothic rock kingpin Nick Cave), the label’s aesthetic of “subversive and traditional, demure but erotic” checks the boxes for modern-day Gothic heroine dressing.

The designs in this collection utilises recycled fabrics.

The predominantly black collection will also get the approval of conscious fashion shoppers as the designs featured sustainably sourced materials like velvet made from recycled polyester and costume jewellery that employed recycled zinc, steel and glass.

Expect classic Susie Cave designs like mini dresses in velvet decorated with pussy bows and a vintage-inspired lace gown (Gothic bride much?) – all of which come with the brand’s signature puff sleeve.

According to Susie Cave: “H&M went to extraordinary lengths to bring the dark and sensual world of The Vampire’s Wife to life.”

For more statement-making designs, cue the silver lace cape and accessories like a fingerless glove and detachable white ruffled collar that calls to mind Wednesday Addams chic.
