Mention Tomas Maier and the first thing that would jump to mind is his longstanding career as creative director of Italian label Bottega Veneta. But the man’s not just known for his predilections for discreet luxury.
For his fans, the 61-year-old German designer is also an advocate of the jet-set life and glamorous resort living. One just needs to look at his Instagram account to get a glimpse of the inspirations for home decor, art and travels which always centre around coastal living and the beach.
Which brings us to Florida, Maier’s adopted home for the past 19 years. He recently made news for selling the multi-million Palm Beach house which he has stayed in since 2006. Home is now a $17 million property in the same area which he purchased from Ivana Trump (but thankfully redecorated and renovated).

Maier’s affection for Florida is most evident in his upcoming collaboration with Uniqlo, which is launching in Singapore on May 18 at the latter’s Orchard Central flagship, Suntec City outpost and online. The colour palette of ochre, vermilion is the immediate nod to the sunny skies and life in The Sunshine State. Then there is the palm tree logo of Maier’s own eponymous line which appears as patterns on bikinis, T-shirts and dresses.
This resort-centric outing is Uniqlo’s first entry into the resort wear territory and is marked by plenty of easy-to-wear pieces. Think beach attire that can turn into loungewear and casual cover ups paired with polo shirts can easily be worn with your tailored pants or casual slacks. Here, we highlight some of our favourite items to own from the collection.
