The red carpets have been rolling out once again for events like the MTV Video Music Awards 2021, the Met Gala 2021 and the Emmys. Stars like Zendaya and Lil Nas X have been turning up in showstopping looks – which will undeniably end up in the fashion annals.

But, well all know that behind every major public appearance is a stylist/image maker behind (hey, even Tilda Swinton has her stylist Jerry Stafford to thank for all her red carpet hits). In the pages ahead, we take a look at the bunch responsible for bringing these fashion moments to life.

The FIT-trained celebrity stylist started off her career in fashion by working in retail when she was 16, before pursuing an undergraduate degree in business. She landed an internship that offered her styling opportunities to dress backup dancers and subsequently, celebrities.

Today, Musa is based in Los Angeles and is making a name for herself as rapper Lil Nas X’s (pictured) full-time fashion stylist with her flashy colourful picks.

ABOUT THE STYLIST: Growing up with a theatre background back in the American Midwest played a huge significance in the way Brett Alan Nelson styles and designs custom pieces for celebrities today – think dramatic, outlandish and hugely experimental ensembles. Case in point: the five outfits he got Doja Cat to wear for her first hosting gig at the recent VMAs (pictured).

He got into fashion by first assisting top stylists in the industry which then lead him to opportunities such as becoming the US Fashion Editor at Schon! magazine. and working alongside prolific artist-photographer David Lachapelle. Arguably one of the most well-known fashion stylists to date, Law grew up in Southside Chicago and fell in love with fashion styling from watching his grandmother get ready.

He moved to New York City to start a career as a vintage broker and boutique owner of Deliciously Vintage Harlem, and caught the eyes of stars like Kanye West.
