Naturally, summer collections are made for sunny days and beach getaways. And Valentino does a pretty good job at encapsulating the escapist mood with its fittingly-named Valentino Escape 2022 line which features beachwear, designed with relaxed silhouettes, airy fabrics, and an intention of holidaying away.
This collection is also rife with archival motifs of the Maison – a tradition that’s been instilled in the Escape collection since its launch in 2020. Three distinct vintage prints make their appearance for this year’s edition.
Pieces with the Giraffa print from 1966 lets you channel your inner ’70s glamazon.
Round Rain, first introduced in 1966, splashes kaleidoscopic patterns onto kaftans and swimwear, in tropical colours of orange, yellow and green. Also back from the same year is the Giraffa print, which, like its name suggests, mimics the polka-dot pattern of the animal.
Meanwhile, the psychedelic Valentino Waves pattern, brought back from 1970, appears on shirts, sweatshirts, and flowy dresses. The collection culminates in the Valentino Garavani Escape bag, a tote-shaped bag new to the Maison, available in raffia, embroidered canvas, and sequins.
Valentino Escape 2022 will be available exclusively at the Valentino boutique in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, on valentino.com, and luxury e-tailer Mytheresa. Below, a look at the collection’s vacation wear.
