What To Get From Hermes’ Spring/Summer 2023 Collection

A light-hearted take on luxury travel.

by Khong Yawen  /   March 14, 2023

Glorious glamping.

The great outdoors served as inspiration for Hermes’ Spring/Summer 2023 show. Picture sand dunes that serve as a canvas for the changing colours of dawn to dusk – a parallel to the pieces that make up the collection. Creative Director for womenswear Nadege Vanhee-Cybulski ventured into the concept of adaptability and travelling, specifically how it’s changed in a post-pandemic world. With the idea of a “rave in the desert”, Vanhee-Cybulski created a collection that balanced both refinement and utilitarianism.

Tanned leather windbreakers and a coat with a hidden mesh that seemed like it came straight from a tent started off the show. Flowy dresses in a bright coral pink and red (to represent the setting sun) are juxtaposed with elastic cords. Textured prints and glass beads mimic the movement one might find in nature.

The sandy, tanned colours are an obvious nod to the desert – but that’s not to say the collection was lacking in colour. Scarves and shoes brought in an air of lightness with tinges of orange, a deep green and blue. An even more obvious nod was the large animated sand dune that took center stage at the show, projecting the different colours from day to night. Scroll on for a look at the pieces from the collection to add to your buying list for your next glamping trip.

Translating to “anchor chain” in English, the Chain d’ancre is a shift from Hermes’ usual equestrian inspired designs. Robert Dumas, who served as artistic director from 1978 to 2006, was behind the original design that first manifested into a bracelet. The Chain d’ancre has been part of Hermes for close to eight decades and interpreted into everything from bags to watches, including this resplendent gold ring.
