If you’ve passed by the Miu Miu boutique at The Shoppes At Marina Bay Sands (#01-38) recently, you might have seen the posters calling out in a fun, bright red scrawl, “Select Yoyo Cao”, in its windows. No, it’s not a campaign for a new fashion leader, but it might as well be.
For the uninitiated, “Select” is the global initiative that Miu Miu debuted in 2019, roping in some its well-known style icon friends from various cities around the world to curate a capsule wardrobe for the new season.
The Select Yoyo Cao capsule is exclusively stocked in-store at Miu Miu’s boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
And, of course, Yoyo Cao is the Singapore-based fashion personality who’s better known by her catchy Instagram handle Yoyokulala, and has won the hearts of designers and street style photographers all over with her distinctive fun-meets-elegant, unfailingly chic OOTDs. Now, she can also lay claim to the title of being the first here to be a part of Miu Miu’s Select programme.
One of the looks assembled by Yoyo Cao for the capsule is this co-ord set that’s big on tennis chic with a hint of Y2K cool.
Past Select alumni include indie style heroine Chloe Sevigny, British model Georgia May Jagger, Taiwanese-Australian actress Hannah Quinlivan, rapper Lexie Liu and Gen Z idol Lila Moss. This year’s instalment, which spotlights the brand’s preppy-meet-punk Fall/Winter 2022 collection, falls into the hands of four women. Besides Cao repping the +65, there’s the singer Dana Hourani from Dubai as well as two yet-to-be-named fashion stars from Milan and Tokyo.
Each of the items curated by Yoyo Cao for the outing will come with a special tag bearing her name.
Those wanting to emulate Cao’s knack for effortless layering and mixing tailored menswear-inspired separates with more casual pieces, her Miu Miu Select capsule will have you sorted easily. The multi-hyphenate has pulled together a wardrobe comprising of over 35 pieces spanning cropped knit tops and shrunken T-shirts to oversized suiting and the flirty, ultra-mini skirts first made iconic by the brand last season. As with all editions under Miu Miu Select, every one of these items come with a special tag bearing the curator’s name.
Ahead, a peek at Cao’s Miu Miu Select wardrobe, now available online and at the brand’s The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands boutique till Sept 23.
