Golden Globes 2019: The Best Jewellery Moments From The Red Carpet

The bling count featuring some of our favourite leading ladies (and some men).

by IMRAN JALAL  /   January 8, 2019

So, Michelle Yeoh’s emerald ring might have caused some hoopla at this year’s Golden Globes red carpet. Yeap, the same ring that was featured in Crazy Rich Asians. But in our books, Saoirse Ronan stole the night too with her gargantuan 34.88 carats of pear-shaped emeralds on her earrings by Chopard. Here, we round up some of our favourite bling moments from the night.

Rachel Weisz

Rachel Weisz might not have swept the best supporting actress award this year for her role in The Favourite. But the Brit actress stole the limelight with her couture Celine frock and that statement high jewellery choker by Cartier festooned with coral, onyx and diamonds.

Claire Foy

Best supporting actress nominee Claire Foy channelled old Hollywood glamour in her Miu Miu satin gown sans the tacky costumey factor. The finishing touch is her delicate Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

Kate Mara

Ditching the traditional chandelier earrings route, the Miu Miu-clad Kate Mara went for something more street and youthful with her ear cuffs and studs by edgy labels Eva Fehren and Anita Ko.

Sandra Oh

The night’s big star was Sandra Oh — the first Asian with multiple Golden Globes, the first Asian to host the event, and also took home an award for her role in Killing Eve. She slayed on the red carpet too with her glamorous Atelier Versace number and for the effortless way she piled on the platinum and diamond bracelets by Forevermark.

Saoirse Ronan

Mary Queen of Scots star Saoirse Ronan looked regal in her chainmail-like dress by Gucci and some kickass earrings from Chopard which feature 34.88 carats of pear-shaped emeralds, 21.43 carats of cushion-shaped diamonds, and 1.36 carats of diamonds set in titanium.

Glenn Close

Best Actress winner Glenn Close looked like a bona fide movie star with her Armani Prive cape dress. The inky colour is the perfect contrast to her Cartier jewels which included an Art Deco diamond watch.

Amy Adams

While white diamond pieces ruled the red carpet, Amy Adams who received two nominations at this year awards, opted for more tribal-esque rose gold jewellery pieces from Cartier.

Timothee Chalamet

We’re still undecided about Timothee Chalamet’s bedazzled body harness by Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton, but the boy scored with his wrist game: a stack of Juste Un Clou, Love and Ecrou bracelets from Cartier.

Indya Moore

Trans actress Indya Moore kept her accessories more personal by opting for independent jewellery designers who were dear to her, including colour stones and pearls from Mateo and diamond earrings, cuffs and rings from Anita Ko.

Michael B. Jordan

Michael B. Jordan played the dapper card and paired his tux with a vintage Cartier diamond and platinum brooch from 1934.
