Models at the minimalist Fendi Fall/Winter 2022 couture show held in Paris on July 7 were decked out in cascading white crystal pieces that were worn as hair clips and single earrings. But the jewellery that stole the limelight were three scintillating pieces topped off with vivid yellow gemstones – such as the necklace layered underneath a suit for the opening look above.
As it turns out, these pieces are from Fendi’s first-ever high jewellery collection, that is titled Fendi Flavus (the Latin word for “yellow”). Delfina Delettrez Fendi, the house’s artistic director of jewellery, opted for the yellow hue synonymous with her family business and the FF monogram that Karl Lagerfeld designed in 1965 to be elements that run throughout the collection.
The outing makes Fendi the latest fashion house in the LVMH stable to join the rarefied field of haute jewellery houses who practise the highest expression of fine jewellery-making that translates into one-of-a-kind designs that can cross the million dollar mark. Others fashion brands which also boast a high jewellery department are Chanel, Dior, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
Ahead, a closer look at the pieces.
