Mention Thomas Sabo and some of the images that might spring to mind are skulls or the heavy rock and roll influence in the designs. This season, the German jewellery brand makes a strong fashion statement with a collection that goes big with feminine designs, fashionable colours, glamorous details and a wide range of practical and smart touches. Here, we highlight five reasons why the jewellery fiend would want to take note of the S/S ’18 collection.
All thanks to the introduction of small hinged hoops. For the first time ever, these contraptions allow someone to attach the trinkets from the Generation Charm Club line, which can then be hooked onto rings on necklaces and pendants. Since no one can dictate the number of charms you can attach or even the design permutation you can do, each jewellery is uniquely your own. The bonus: There are over 260 new charm designs to choose from.

Compared to past collections, S/S ’18 sees more vibrant gem hues creeping into the designs, giving the jewellery a more eye-catching quality that’s perfect for the fashion magpie. Expect more saturated colours such as hot pink, marigold yellow and cardinal red appearing on glass-ceramic, zirconia and simulated malachite gems. These hues pop up in the Tropical series, which encompasses Aztec-inspired and filigree-designed pieces such as the parrot and sunstone amulet. They also appear in the boho-chic Riviera Colours series which is distinguishable by its combination of turquoise, red and green gems.

There are two ways in which the brand helps out in this aspect: The first is a band which looks as though three different rings are stacked on top of one another. The other is a knuckle duster-inspired design which comprises three slim bands linked together in a row — so you can slip into the entire piece onto all three digits in one go. These rings are only available at the brand’s Ion Orchard in this region.

While the previous snake pieces from the brand come in more conventional finishes like silver and black and a strong rocker vibe, this season’s pieces hark back to vintage pieces or baubles that you might pick up from overseas markets. The serpentine designs are peppered with gems and crystals in a tasteful colour palette of turquoise and emerald.
